Backway Bindery

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior design experience?

Not at all. Our beginner courses cover grid basics, type pairing, and simple export steps. Intermediate and advanced options build on those foundations.

Which software do you use?

Most layout lessons use Adobe InDesign. We also include workflows in Affinity Publisher and basic alternatives in free tools for students just getting started.

Can I print at home?

Yes. We teach home-friendly proofing and duplex printing with registration tips. We also show how to prepare files for local print shops if you need heavier stocks and wire-o binds.

What binding methods do you cover?

Wire-o, saddle stitch, and Japanese stab bindings. We discuss hole placement, cover reinforcement, and hanging hardware for durability.

How long will I have access?

Self-paced courses include lifetime access. Live cohorts provide replays for at least 12 months. Downloadable resources remain available even after that window.

Do you provide materials lists?

Every course includes a printable checklist of papers, boards, tools, and optional upgrades, with links to common suppliers or shop-friendly alternatives.

Is there a certificate?

Yes. After completing assessments and the final project submission, you can download a Backway Bindery certificate of completion for your records.

Can I enroll my team?

We offer group enrollments and private workshops tailored to your schedule and goals. Reach out via the contact page to discuss details.
